Our Philosophy

Who we are

Fraser Coast Family Day Care (FCFDC) is locally owned and operated. Our service engages experienced and qualified educators committed to supporting, nurturing and educating children to thrive.

Our educators provide a high-quality play based educational program designed around each child’s developmental needs and interests.

We believe the first five years set a foundation for every child’s life.
We believe that Early Childhood Services are an integral part of supporting families and children.
FCFDC reflects the needs of the local community, families and is driven by our members while underpinning the National Quality Frameworks. We are committed to supporting families in our region to work hand in hand to nurture and support child development.

We encourage your child to grow and develop spiritually, socially, emotionally, as well as academically. We encourage and support their kindergarten and school readiness journey.

Our service promotes Nature Play based learning, strong child protection awareness and social justice.

Our Aim

To support our educators holistically to reach their business potential. We pride ourselves on having a range of educators with diverse learning approaches and we respectfully work to extend skillsets with ongoing training, support by partnering together.

To provide opportunities for our educators and families to participate in Intergenerational Playgroups and Nature Play sessions. In all events, groups and excursions we aim to display educational skillsets, approaches and form authentic connections.

Through our commitment to Nature Play we will foster divergent thinking and problem solving. We aim to promote mindfulness and teach children that play is unhurried, child led and flexible.

We will teach strong respect for the land through Landcare knowledge and providing skill sets for children understand environmental sustainability.

We will teach children to make educated risks and participate in challenging play. We believe through these experiences children’s risk detection skills are “turned on” while in natural spaces.

To work in close partnership with families to maximise children’s learning outcomes and support families in their parenting roles.

For children and families to be enriched by their experiences in care and supportive environments. FCFDC provides connections to Butchulla learning and embeds consistent messages of belonging to a safe community.

To support children to be changemakers and ethical citizens. To provide children with a scaffold to have resilience, self-worth, independence and respect for others as we foster secure and trusting relationships and interactions.

To ensure that at all times children are free from harm and educators are aware and supported of their mandatory responsibilities.

To connect with agencies within the community and to maintain strong professional alliances with organisations of high standards; and network with their members to stay informed of best practice and embed a shared knowledge within our procedures.

To have strong ties to employees who have worked in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, who can guide and support our Reconciliation Action Plan.

Our Vision

To advocate for families and children and create opportunities for children, parents and communities to discover and realise their potential. To build reciprocal relationships with families that are strengthened and sustained over time.

To support the growth and learning of each child and celebrate uniqueness.

To build a community where every child has the opportunity to be their best and where every parent, family and community is enriched by the experience of their child’s learning.

We acknowledge that children are active and competent learners.

We are responsive in acting on the needs of children and ensure they are safe, free from harm, supported and have a strong sense of inclusivity.
